  • In 2020- 21, 7.7 million workers were engaged in the gig economy.

  • Gig workforce is expected to expand to 23.5 million workers by 2029-30.

  • ~47% of the gig work is in medium-skilled jobs, ~22% in high-skilled, and ~31% in low-skilled jobs.

  • Training on gender sensitization, sexual & reproductive health management & prevention of sexual harassment (PoSH) is essential.

  • SRHR training and awareness program through platform-based Information, Education & Communication (IEC) activities

  • Evaluate how this program affects SRHR-related knowledge, attitudes, behavior, and overall well-being, and whether it empowers women gig workers, and helps in their retention and care in the industry

OUR GOALS

Education
& Training

Address knowledge gaps related to sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR), including menstrual hygiene management at workplace, understanding sex, gender, society, maternal health, contraception, women's rights, and reporting sexual harassment.

Increase SRHR Awareness 

Increase awareness about SRHR among gig workers in the Indian context, particularly focusing on women gig workers. Dispel myths and misconceptions surrounding SRHR, creating a more informed and empowered workforce.

Empower Women Gig Workers

Equip women with knowledge, skills, and confidence to make informed decisions regarding their sexual and reproductive health. Enhance their understanding of their rights at the workplace and in domestic spaces, promoting their agency and ability to address issues of sexual violence and discrimination.

Promote Sustainable and Inclusive Growth

Contribute to the development of a safe, sustainable, and inclusive gig economy by integrating SRHR awareness and support mechanisms, ensuring dignified income generation opportunities for women gig workers and fostering gender equality.

Increase Retention of Women Gig Workers

Improve the retention rates of women gig workers in the industry by providing them with the necessary support, training, and awareness about .

Evaluate Program Efficacy

Conduct a systematic evaluation of the SRHR training program on female labor force participation rates and their retention. Assess its impact on knowledge, attitudes, behavior, and well-being of gig workers.
